Marruecos inicia una investigación en materia de salvaguardias sobre las planchas de acero laminado en caliente
El 27 de mayo de 2019, Marruecos notificó al Comité de Salvaguardias de la OMC que el 29 de mayo de 2019 iniciaría una investigación en materia de salvaguardias sobre las planchas de acero laminado en caliente.
In the notification Morocco indicated, among other things, as follows (provisional translation):
“In order to collect the information necessary for this investigation, the Ministry will send questionnaires to the domestic producers and importers of the product concerned identified in the request.
Other interested parties wishing to receive a questionnaire and participate in the survey must contact the Ministry, by fax or email, within 15 days from the date of initiation of the investigation (not later than Monday, 17 June 2019 at 16h).

Interested parties have a period of 30 days from the date of the initiation of the investigation (i.e. no later than Tuesday, 4 July 2019 at 16hr) to make themselves known.
Interested parties have a period of 30 days from the date of the initiation of the investigation (i.e. no later than Tuesday, 4 July 2019 at 16hr) to issue, in writing, regardless of the replies to the questionnaires, their opinion and comments on the initiation of the investigation […].

¿Qué es una investigación en materia de salvaguardias?
En una investigación en materia de salvaguardias se trata de determinar si el aumento de las importaciones de un producto ha causado o amenaza causar un daño grave a la rama de producción nacional.
En el curso de una investigación en materia de salvaguardias, los importadores, los exportadores y las demás partes interesadas pueden presentar pruebas y exponer sus opiniones, y tienen la oportunidad de responder a las comunicaciones de las otras partes.
Un Miembro de la OMC sólo puede adoptar una medida de salvaguardia (es decir, restringir temporalmente las importaciones de un producto) si se ha constatado que el aumento de las importaciones del producto ha causado o amenaza causar un daño grave.
