Se está celebrando en Ginebra el Curso Avanzado sobre Acuerdos Comerciales Regionales y la OMC

Veintisiete participantes de distintos lugares del mundo están asistiendo al Curso Avanzado sobre Acuerdos Comerciales Regionales (ACR) y la OMC, que se celebra en la sede de la Organización del 16 al 20 de septiembre de 2019. El Curso fue inaugurado por el Excmo. Sr. Carlos Mario Foradori, de la Argentina, actual Presidente del Comité de Acuerdos Comerciales Regionales (CACR), y la Sra. Rohini Acharya, Jefa de la Sección de Acuerdos Comerciales Regionales de la División de Examen de las Políticas Comerciales de la OMC.

The course comprises a series of sessions and practical exercises related to the implementation of the WTO’s rules and procedures for RTAs. In addition, it provides participants with the opportunity to attend a meeting of the CRTA and to learn about its functioning, rules and procedures as well as the importance of notifications and transparency in the Committee’s activities.

The course allows participants ample opportunity to discuss their experiences regarding RTAs and related issues. In a dedicated session, four participants from regional secretariats will share their experiences of assisting in the implementation of RTAs.

The course is classified as «level 3», the highest level of training activity implemented within the WTO’s progressive learning framework. Due to its advanced nature, the course encourages the active involvement of participants and addresses key issues relating to RTAs, such as transparency and compliance with existing WTO rules.
