La Directora General Okonjo-Iweala se reúne con los Jóvenes Líderes del Comercio
La promoción de Jóvenes Líderes del Comercio de la OMC se reunió con la Directora General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala antes del Foro Público.
18 de septiembre del 2025.- El 17 de septiembre, la promoción más reciente de Jóvenes Líderes del Comercio de la OMC se reunió con la Directora General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala antes de participar en una mesa redonda en el Foro Público de este año. En la reunión, la Directora General destacó la importancia de que los decisores escucharan las voces de los jóvenes y alentó al grupo a que propusiera ideas creativas y viables para ayudar a hacer frente a los desafíos a los que se enfrenta el comercio mundial.
Welcoming the opportunity to meet with the Director-General, the seven WTO Young Trade Leaders expressed their excitement at being selected for the 2025 programme. The group also highlighted their commitment to developing their trade policy expertise throughout the year-long initiative and using the programme to help drive positive change in their local communities.
Public Forum
The 2025 Young Trade Leaders have been invited to Geneva to participate in a range of activities during the Public Forum. As well as meeting with the Director-General, the cohort also participated in a panel discussion entitled «Breaking new ground: priorities for trade’s next generation». At the session, the group called for ambitious global policies that could bridge the digital divide and benefit developing economies.
The group also organized a panel discussion on 18 September entitled «Bridging digital divides through local solutions», which spotlighted grassroots innovations by digital entrepreneurs from around the world. In addition, the Young Trade Leaders met with their mentors in the WTO Secretariat, who will guide them throughout the year. They will also meet with their national delegations and participate in other sessions and activities during the Forum.
