Tailandia inicia una investigación en materia de salvaguardias sobre el polipropileno

El 8 de septiembre de 2025, Tailandia notificó al Comité de Salvaguardias de la OMC que el 3 de septiembre de 2025 había iniciado una investigación sobre el polipropileno.

The notification indicated, among other things, as follows:

«All relevant importers, exporters and any other interested parties wishing to present evidences, documents, views or comments pertaining to the investigation shall submit the aforementioned information in writing to the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, latest on 24 September 2025 before 16:30 ICT (GMT+7). Except for the exporters and any interested parties situated outside Thailand, the deadline for presentation of evidence, documents and views would be on 1 October 2025.»

Further, Thailand’s notification indicated that:

«The copy of a non-confidential version of the petition (Thai version) and the updated information concerning the investigation are available on the website https://thaitr.dft.go.th/en/search/SG1008

¿Qué es una investigación en materia de salvaguardias?

En una investigación en materia de salvaguardias se trata de determinar si el aumento de las importaciones de un producto ha causado o amenaza causar un daño grave a la rama de producción nacional.

En el curso de una investigación en materia de salvaguardias, los importadores, los exportadores y las demás partes interesadas pueden presentar pruebas y exponer sus opiniones, y tienen la oportunidad de responder a las comunicaciones de las otras partes.

Un Miembro de la OMC sólo puede adoptar una medida de salvaguardia (es decir, restringir temporalmente las importaciones de un producto) si se ha constatado que el aumento de las importaciones del producto ha causado o amenaza causar un daño grave.
