Holiday greetings to all our servicemen and women.
Dear friends, this year, I had the privilege of meeting many of you again, including recently in Norway.
You came from all over Europe and across the Atlantic to exercise together, in NATO’s biggest exercise since the Cold War.
Which you completed successfully.
Every day, you serve under the same NATO flag in Afghanistan.
Your visible presence on the ground, in the air and at sea, from the Baltic Region to the Mediterranean, shows that NATO is ready to defend all Allies, against any threat, at any time.
Next year, NATO will turn 70, and we are in good shape.
Your professionalism, commitment and spirit of solidarity make our Alliance strong.
Together, we will continue to adapt to this unpredictable world,
to preserve peace, and keep our citizens safe.
As we have done for the past seven decades.
So thank you for all the great work you do, wherever you are.
And thanks to your families and loved ones who continue to provide invaluable support, in times of challenge and celebration.
I wish you a happy and peaceful New Year!
